I am currently a student at Leeds Beckett University, studying for a degree in Public Relations and Journalism. Previously I studied at Baysgarth Secondary School and Sixth Form in North Lincolnshire.
Throughout my academic career, I have had experience writing professionally for the Leeds Beckett Student Union as a part of a two-week placement, as well as taking an extra-curricular interest with my personal blog, and during my year long position as the secretary for the LGBT Society.
Working as a society secretary afforded me the opportunity to work on a number of transferrable skills that I am able to take forward with me into my career. Being the main bulk of the work, I was able to hone my coordination and event management skills, whilst also working on developing the societies social media platforms and getting a first-hand experience working as part of a larger team of six people. As well as the practical skills involved, the experience involved producing a number of digital media pieces and gave me the opportunity to try out a range of the writing styles I had learnt over the years at university, something I went on to use in the content I produced for the Students Union, which was later published on their websites.
Outside of my work, I have a keen interest in gaming, technology and the LGBT community. Being a passionate, lively, ambitious individual, I am hopeful that my drive and commitment to quality will propel me forward into a career in any of these areas of interest following my graduation.
