Joachim Akinseloyin

I am a native of Ode-Irele in Irele local government area of Ondo State in Nigeria and was born on 28th March, 1966.

Having completed my primary and secondary school education, I worked for two years as an auxillary teacher in the Ondo State Teaching service commission and later as a clerical officer at the Okitipupa Oil Palm Plantation at Okitipupa, Ondo state of Nigeria.

By October 1989, I was admitted into the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Lagos Nigeria, having passed the entrance examination, and graduated in July,1991 on completion of the two year Diploma course. This marks the beginning of my journey into journalism, public relations and media relations. I have also acquired a professional diploma in Public Relations of the Business Education Examinations Council(BEEC 1997.)in Lagos. Between September 2002 and July 2003, I attended London College of Printing(now college of communication) at Elephant and Castle, London for a Postgraduate Diploma  in Publishing.

The desire to further my career in public relations and particularly studying public relations in a developed economy like that of the United kingdom, spurred me into seeking admission and sponsorship for this course at Leeds Beckett University.

Since my employment by Nigerian Ports Authority in September 1994, I have served as Protocol officer, research officer and before I came for this course, I served as media relations officer and a senior correspondent of the Authority’s in-house journal, NPA Today Magazine.

On successful completion of my present course, I intend to seek admission and sponsorship for a Doctorate Degree in Public Relations with specialization in Public Affairs and Lobbying.

I am a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations(NIPR) and the Nigerian Union of Journalists(NUJ), Lagos State, Council.

I am married with children.
