Rachel Norrie

In 2006 I left school with 9 GCSEs grades A-C and attended the local sixth form, where I successfully obtained 4 A Levels. I moved to Leeds in 2008 from Hull, where I grew up, to study English and Creative Writing at Leeds Trinity and All Saints University and graduated with a BA Honours degree.

Initially after university I began a career in banking and following several promotions became involved in creating lending applications for business and corporate customers, before returning to university to study part time for an MA in Public Relations and Strategic Communications.

Whilst studying I worked as a PR executive for a locally based PR agency and I was responsible for managing the client’s social media channels. This involved developing digital strategies and creating and implementing content. Alongside this, I was heavily involved with creating blogger outreach programmes and established strong working relationships with a local network of influencers.

I’ve worked with a number of clients in both b2b and b2c sectors, most notably Country Baskets. We worked with them to increase their social media presence, drive traffic to their website and increase their market share. For this particular client I worked with a handful of the top parenting bloggers in the UK and I was solely responsible for managing the campaign and reporting on its success.

More recently I have been working freelance, which has allowed me to develop my business skills and strategic thinking. I’m consistently looking to improve myself and the services I offer clients and in five years’ time I see myself managing a portfolio of clients across the region. I’d hope to have developed connections with individuals who are experts in SEO etc to ensure my business is mirroring the changing face of our industry.
